Privacy policy
Last updated 22 September 2026.
This is a personal site and it does not live off visitor data. There is no analytics, there are no cookies, and nothing is sold or used for advertising. What does exist is described below, item by item.
The data controller is Gilmar Vitor Manoel da Silva, who can be reached at [email protected].
What is processed, and why
- Browsing: the server records IP address, date and time, page requested and browser, like any web server. It keeps the site running and helps spot abuse. These records are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Contact form: the name, email and message you write yourself. They go straight to Gilmar's inbox and are used only to reply to you.
- Chat with Gil: the text and files you send are processed to generate the reply. The conversation is not kept on the server: it stays in your browser and disappears when you clear the site data.
- Bot protection: the Turnstile challenge runs in your browser to confirm there is a person there.
Who the data is shared with
Three providers take part in running the site and receive data in the process. None of them receives anything for advertising purposes.
- OpenAI: receives the messages and files sent to the chat, to generate the reply.
- Cloudflare: delivers the site and runs Turnstile, the test that blocks bots.
- Web3Forms: carries the contact form to Gilmar's inbox.
International transfer
These providers process data outside Brazil. When you use the chat or the form, your data leaves the country in that process.
How long it is kept
- Server access logs: 14 days, deleted automatically.
- IP address in the chat rate limit: in memory, for 5 minutes. To record abuse the IP is turned into an irreversible code, from which the original address cannot be recovered.
- Chat conversations: not kept on the server. They remain only in your browser, under your control.
- Contact messages: they stay in Gilmar's inbox for as long as they are useful to the matter at hand.
What stays in your browser
The site uses no cookies. A few preferences live in your browser's local storage, on your device, and are never sent anywhere: light or dark theme, accessibility settings, the recent history of your conversation with Gil, a chat session identifier and a draft of the contact form.
Clearing the site data in your browser removes all of it.
Legal basis
- Keeping the site online, working and protected from abuse: legitimate interest.
- Replying to what you send through the form or the chat: acting on your own request.
Your rights
Brazilian data protection law (LGPD) lets you confirm whether processing takes place, access your data, correct what is wrong, request anonymisation or deletion, learn who it was shared with, and withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]. Since almost nothing is retained here, in practice the request is usually settled by deleting the email and clearing your browser storage.
Children
This is a professional site aimed at people looking for software engineering work. It is not intended for anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from that age group.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site works changes (a different provider, a different retention period, some new record), this text changes with it, and the date at the top becomes the date of that change.
